China Energy Storage Network News: According to foreign media reports, Sonnen, a German home energy storage battery manufacturer, has recently launched an "all-in-one" SonnenCore home energy storage battery system in the US market at a price of US$9,500.
The company was acquired by Shell, a world-renowned oil and gas manufacturer, last year. The company's newly launched sonnenCore residential battery energy storage system will provide a 10-year free warranty service.
A SonnenCore home energy storage battery system has an installed capacity of 4.8kW and an energy storage capacity of 10kWh. It uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and is certified to the UL 9540 fire safety standard. Sonnen said that the battery energy storage system is suitable for multiple application scenarios such as load transfer, solar self-consumption and emergency backup power.
The company said that the system is equipped with Sonnen's newly developed inverter and includes customized energy management software (EMS), which Sonnen claims can achieve full end-to-end system integration and optimization.
The SonnenCore home energy storage battery system has a compact design with a height of 68 inches, a width of 27 inches, and a depth of 11 inches, and meets the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) indoor standards.
Sonnen called it the "all-purpose" solution in a press release. The product was launched to meet the demand for low-cost household energy storage systems. The company also emphasized the applicability of the SonnenCore energy storage battery system in new home and community renewable energy power generation.
According to a survey conducted by the US price comparison and review website SolarReviews, the price of the 8kW/30kWh EcoLinx battery energy storage system launched by Sonnen this year is more than three times that of the SonnenCore energy storage system, about US$36,000. The EcoLinx energy storage battery system is an advanced version of the Sonnen Eco energy storage system. The price of the 5kWh Sonnen Eco energy storage battery system is US$9,000.
The survey shows that the price of the 13.5-kWh Powerwall 2.0 battery energy storage system launched by Sonnen's rival Tesla is about $11,500; the price of LG Chem’s 12.4kWh RESU energy storage battery system is between $11,000 and $1.3 Ten thousand US dollars; the price of BYD’s 2.5kWh B-BOX battery energy storage system is about 1549 US dollars.
Sonnen is currently involved in the construction of a few large-scale virtual power plant (VPP) projects in North America, European countries, and Australia, and provides a batch of energy storage battery systems that can be aggregated and controlled to provide more capacity and power to the grid service.
